On the afternoon of September 9, CT Group in collaboration with Can Tho University organized a scientific conference “National Digital Twin – Breakthrough Technological for Smart Agriculture in the Mekong Delta”.

Deputy Head of the Central Commissions for Publicity and Education, and Mass Mobilization Mr.Huynh Thanh Dat addressed the conference

In attendance was Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Head of the Central Commissions for Publicity and Education, and Mass Mobilization, leaders of central Party commissions, ministries and agencies; provincial leaders from the region; as well as managers and scholars…

The National Digital Twin is the third pillar of the national digital transformation process, also the most challenging and extensive one. Vietnam’s digital transformation has three major pillars: Digital transformation for citizens, Digital transformation for organizations, and Digital transformation for territories.

Territorial digital transformation covers cities, rural areas, mountains, farmlands, seas and even space, along with transportation and vehicles. The platform integrates a wide range of technologies, from artificial intelligence to IoT and computing technologies.

Vietnam is moving forward with this third pillar. This is the foundation of digital transformation that will enable comprehensive digital transformation across the nation.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Commissions for Publicity and Education, and Mass Mobilization Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized: The conference carries significant practical value, helping translate into action major resolutions on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. He underlined that robust digital data infrastructure and technological self-reliance in strategic areas are regarded as crucial drivers for the rapid growth of modern productive forces.

According to Tran Trung Tinh, Rector of Can Tho University, the National Digital Twin is a technological breakthrough event for smart agriculture in the Mekong Delta, promising new perspectives, innovative solutions, and breakthroughs for the development of modern agriculture.

However, according to the Rector of Can Tho University, the Mekong Delta is also facing unprecedented challenges, including severe impacts of climate change, increasingly complex salinity intrusion, and land degradation in cultivation. The traditional agricultural production model has revealed many limitations and is no longer sufficient to meet urgent demands for food security, sustainable development, and value enhancement in the global supply chain, particularly in terms of competitiveness with neighboring countries.

In this context, the development of smart agriculture is not only an inevitable trend but also a strategic solution to ensure a safe and sustainable food supply, effectively adapt to climate change, and enhance international competitiveness. This is the inevitable path for the Mekong Delta to maximize its potential and make a worthy contribution to the nation’s overall development.

Presenting at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Director of the National Digital Twin Project (DT15 – a project of CT Group), said that the National Digital Twin has 36 functions for smart agriculture, such as simulating and forecasting crop seasons and yields, early pest detection, and smart agricultural traceability, helping reduce input costs and increase incomes for farmers.

Specifically, DT15 has 36 functions that will revolutionize smart agriculture with applications such as AI, UAVs, IoT, and satellite imagery to monitor crop seasons and plant health, optimize irrigation and fertilization, and provide cross-sector data for land-use planning, water management, and sustainable food security.

This will trigger a boom in smart agriculture in the Mekong Delta in the coming period, helping reduce input costs and increase productivity many times over; enabling farmers to benefit from higher incomes, less hardship, reduced risks, and the possibility of prospering on their own fields while advancing green transformation; and providing authorities with accurate data for planning, disaster response, environmental management, and brand building.

“The DT15 project, with more than 200 functions, will help transform the Mekong Delta into a major smart agriculture hub of the region and the world, and successfully build a model of cooperation between government, enterprises, and farmers. Thereby forming a comprehensive smart agriculture value chain.”, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh affirmed.

CT Group and Can Tho University signed an agreement to establish a UAV Center combining Agricultural Robotics and a UAV Pilot Training School

*On this occasion, CT Group and Can Tho University signed several strategic cooperation agreements, including: The establishment of an Agricultural UAV-Robot Center and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle pilot training school (UAV); collaboration in advanced semiconductor packaging training.

In addition, the two sides agreed to cooperate in developing carbon credits for the Mekong Delta, focusing on sustainable shrimp farming, sustainable rice cultivation, public lighting transformation,… and a project on high-quality human resource development for the Mekong Delta in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation with AI applications.

The Agricultural UAV-Robot Center will focus on researching and deploying technologies directly applied to agriculture, from planting, care, and harvesting to carbon credit assessment.
